Programs
Camera Recycle Project creates spaces where young people can muck around with cameras and develop a love of imagery. Volunteer photographers act as mentors and lend a hand with any creative project a young person can imagine.
Young people interested in further developing their skills are invited to a participatory photography program where they can further develop their skills with access to high-end technology and the chance to work as paid photography apprentices.
We tailor-make our photography programs to suit any budget, and aim to facilitate socially, culturally and gender inclusive photography programs.
Yarra Youth Reporters

The Yarra Youth Reporters see Melbourne a little differently to every one else - through their own eyes!
A pop-up technology library has arrived at Fitzroy Learning Network Neighbourhood House, enabling local young people who live in public housing the chance to hire cameras and capture the world through their lenses.
Burringurrah Community Cam

This remote Aboriginal community is home to approximately 80 young people and is 300km from the nearest regional town, mobile reception and groceries.
A pop-up technology library was available to residents, and remote community life suddenly became subject of daily photos. A unique insight into living in this beautiful part of the world.
Collective Focus Partnership (WA)

Collective Focus is a workshop program that uses photography and visual storytelling to build lines of communication between Indigenous and non-Indigenous young women in Fremantle, WA.
HALO Leadership Development Agency

HALO is a not-for-profit community organisation advancing the Hopes, Aspirations & Leadership Opportunities of Aboriginal young people and their families.
Over 18 months CRP provided cameras as requested for activities and excursion, as well as photography mentorship. The cameras went to AFL games, camp on Rottnest Island, funerals, graduation ceremonies, Fremantle, a special studio photo shoot, and a healing trip to Wandering Mission.
Community Youth Engagement Program

Over 12 months, CRP worked in collaboration with Joondalup Youth Support Services offering a weekly activities-based photography engagement program.
Every Friday a group of homeless and at-risk young people would pile into the bus and go exploring the city with cameras. Excursions included to the beach, bike hire in the city, to photography exhibitions, Yanchep Caves, the aquarium, concerts and artist studio visits.
Overwhelmingly our young people all reported an increased connection to community, decreased drug and alcohol use, and a decrease in boredom as a result of weekly engagement in our program.
Shire of Morawa

Over one week in the school holidays CRP took over the Shire of Morawa, Wildflower country in the mid west of WA.
This small town was the perfect place to set up a pop up technology library, and all week every young person you saw walking the street had a camera. Their shots culminated in a photography exhibition and a long-term camera hire program.
