Beat-making workshop with Palm Island youth in Melbourne
June 5, 2014
In partnership with Cathy Freeman Foundation and Landers & Rogers law firm, Camera Recycle Project got to spend an evening with eight 12-year-olds visiting Melbourne for the first time from Palm Island in QLD. Young CRP facilitators Guled Abdulwasi (19) and Ror Akot (17) assisted to facilitate - and they were total rock stars!
We made beats using fruit and circuit boards, wrote our own lyrics and recorded a music video clip. It was a great evening of cross-cultural sharing, and great to see young people from all walks of life exploring digital media together.
Check out more of Guled's pics from the evening here.
